After nearly 20 years committed to regenerative farming practices, we’ve continually set the standard for premium dairy. But we have more than history that proves our resolve – we also have the receipts, so to speak.
Our dedication to 100% grass-fed is core to who we are, and we love to talk about the grass-fed difference whenever we can, and the positive impact roaming cows have on a pasture to naturally aerate and fertilize the soil, producing their own healthy feed, enhancing ecosystems, and healing the earth.
But as the certifications and seals on our products will tell you, this is just the beginning of the story. We adhere to the most rigorous certifications and highest standards we can find for making pure, low-intervention dairy. Because of that:
We’re Certified Organic
We’re partners in Organic Plus Trust
We’re recipients of the USDA Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities
Each of these credentials are important in their own ways, each aimed at making a meaningful impact in how our food is made to help families know that they’re filling their fridge with the best possible dairy. We know it can be hard to sift through what each stamp on a carton means, so let us break it down for you:
Grass fed organic standard
Certified Organic
Likely the best known of our certifications, Certified Organic is issued by the USDA in order to be certified, members must maintain the following practices:
Organic Feed grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
Pasture Access: Cows must have access to an organic pasture for grazing, weather permitting.
No Synthetic Hormones or Antibiotics: Dairy cows cannot be given antibiotics or synthetic hormones for growth or production purposes.
Organic Plus Trust Partner
We are also partners of the Certified Grass-Fed Organic Livestock Program™ from the Organic Plus Trust. The Organic Plus Trust, also known as “OPT” develops third-party verification systems to create a trusted signal of agricultural practices that contribute to public health and the environment. Its Certified Grass-Fed Organic Livestock Program sets the first-ever national standard for grass-fed organic production for meat and dairy and serves as an end to end, third-party certification for the complete supply chain and verifies all livestock sourcing to handling and dairy production.
USDA Climate-Smart Grass-Fed Organic Dairy Grant
We’re incredibly proud to be recipients of the USDA Climate-Smart Grass-Fed Organic Dairy Grant, a grant developed to grow the supply and market for regenerative dairy like ours, and support family farms who practice agriculture that heals our soil and ecosystems.
As recipients of the grant, we commit to sharing the power of grass-fed dairy and regenerative farming practices, and educating both consumers and farmers on the importance of soil health on mitigating the climate crisis, quality dairy products, and beyond. We truly believe regenerative dairy farming is a win-win for everyone and it’s about time more people knew about it!
As you can see, we take our certifications very seriously. We know that when you buy a Maple Hill product, you’re putting your faith into the quality of our dairy, how we do business, how we treat our animals, and how we treat our planet. We’re honored that you keep coming back. And we’ll keep proving our commitment to giving you only the best as we move forward.
At Maple Hill, we’ve been committed to regenerative practices since 2009 because we know the highest quality dairy begins with the health of soil, grass, and cows. We believe that 100% grass-fed organic dairy farming done right is the pinnacle of organic, nourishes families with the best nutrition, and leaves the earth better than we found it.
